If you are in your 30s or 40s chances are you owned a Nintendo Entertainment System or a Super Nintendo.  If you didn't own one yourself, I would bet you had a good friend who had one.  Times have changed!  Now we have Wii, Xbox and Playstation. These are very sophisticated machines that are basically high powered computers.  Personally, I like the simplicity of the old systems.

Think about Blades of Steel vs. EA NHL Hockey games.  Tecmo Bowl vs. the Madden series. The earlier Nintendo systems had very simple yet functional controllers. These new systems do amazing things but I like the fact that almost anyone can figure out how to play a NES or SNES game in a matter of minutes . I do own a Wii, but I enjoy the old school games just as much. The old games also don't have the almost real violence that you see today.

I have owned an FC Twin for a few years and have both original NES and SNES games I have played on it. I will give you the pros and cons of the FC Twin NES/SNES made by Yobo.







CONTROLLERS:

I have played both SNES and NES games on the FC Twin. The standard controllers that come with it emulates the Super NES controller. This is a good thing as far as the size and button placement go.  The Super NES controller is just slightly larger than the original NES, with more buttons, and a nice curve shape. 


                                                                                            
The knock off controller doesn't have the same quality feel as the original Super Nintendo controller. The plastic is cheap feeling and the buttons are a little sloppy. Luckily, you can use a real SNES controller with the quality feel and experience you remember when you were young.

One of my original complaints was that you were not able to hook up a zapper light gun from the original NES. Yobo has addressed this with a zapper light gun that they designed. I have not used this and was unable to find a lot of reliable customer reviews on this yet. It seems to be slightly smaller than the original and I assume it doesn't have the quality feel of the original.

A side note: zapper guns are not compatible with flat screen TVs. Pull out your old tube TV you have in the basement if you want to play Duck Hunt.

GAMEPLAY:

There are users who have stated certain games don't work with this system from both the NES and SNES. I haven't found any of my games that will not work at all but have found some glitches.

In my experience, using the down arrow on the NES games doesn't always work correctly. When playing Mario 3, I have a tough time trying to get Mario to duck or slide down hills. By the time he does it, it's too late! I have found this to be the case with Contra and Zelda II as well. I have heard complaints of the sound varying from the original on NES games but it seems ok to me. Also, you are unable to use the 30 player code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right B,A,start) in Contra. I am capable of forgetting my kid's birthdays but I remember that code 20 years later! I am assuming that codes won't always work for other games as well.

I have not had any issues with my SNES games. The games I have all work great with no glitches. Full list of NES and SNES games that are not compatible or have glitches.

If you are a casual gamer who wants to go back in time and relive the good ol' days I would say this is a good machine for the money. This also makes a great birthday or Christmas gift for the video game junkie. If you are really into gaming and need every single game to be compatible with no glitches, then you should buy the original systems.

To Buy or Not to Buy:

Pros:
Takes up little space especially when you figure you don't need two separate consoles.
Plays almost all NES and SNES games.
Inexpensive
Great gift idea
Can use SNES controllers and accessories
Brings you back to your youth!
Cons:
Controllers are cheap (replace with original SNES controller).
Puts a tight grip on NES games, you have to pull hard to get them out
Is not compatible with all NES and SNES games
